Pathway and Transition Programs

Transition Education
Accredited Transition Education programs are offered at TAFE, Learn Locals and RTOs. Students learn independent life skills, gain more confidence and improve social skills to participate in the community or progress to further study on completion of the course.

Vocational Preparation
This course is offered by a variety of TAFE Institutions and other training providers in Victoria.

This provides participants with knowledge and skills to enhance their continued education and employment prospects, industry experience and knowledge and assist students to make more informed choices for vocational and career pathways. The course also aims to develop social and personal skills.

There are no minimum education requirements and entrance requirements may vary between training providers. The length of the course can vary between four weeks and one semester.

Work Education
Work Education helps students gain independence, community awareness and an understanding of other courses they can study.  Students can improve employment prospects and be prepared for the workforce.

Training providers will support student’s learning and access needs and help students to gain skills in

  • Job seeking and employability
  • Personal management
  • Teamwork and communication
  • Basic literacy and numeracy
  • Use of everyday technology

Youth2Industry
Is a specialist program delivered by Inner Melbourne VET Cluster for youth with learning and access needs seeking to successfully secure work, training or education.  The program focuses on the development of student’s personal strengths, interests and experiences to build resilience, confidence, self-worth and employability skills

The program provides opportunities for project based learning and development of industry skills, in a friendly, supportive environment with small class sizes.  Providing students practical work-related experience, literacy and numeracy skills and the opportunity to build personal skills that are important for life and work.

Ticket to Work
Is a national initiative delivered through local networks including schools, employment services, post school providers and employers. Ticket to Work prepares young people for the workforce and provides an open employment pathway in their transition from school through a combination of vocational/career development and provides early participation with work environments.

Reconnect
Supports both young people who have disengaged from school early and also the long term unemployed who may experience a barrier to learning and transitioning to the workforce.  Reconnect supports participants to engage with further training and education, build resilience and capacity and to transition from formal learning to employment.
